          The Big Broadcast Journalism Rules:

            • Along with the dress code set forth by the R-12 School District, your “on camera” appearance is governed by the rules of good reporting. These rules will be discussed in class and will be followed thereafter. No imprinted clothing will be allowed in front of the camera. Torn or ripped clothing, visible piercings (other than ears), visible body art and inappropriate jewelry are forbidden on the air. This rule will be in place for the entire crew who are on assignment. Students should receive ample notice of taping dates.

Headphones and Flash Drives – Please bring your own each class period for superior editing and file transfer at the computer editing workstation.

          STUDENT DRESS CODE
We will follow all R-12 codes for dress in this classroom with additional responsibility while on camera.
            ACADEMIC HONESTY
Academic honesty is expected in all classes at KHS. Cheating will not be tolerated. Violations of academic honesty include, but are not limited to, copying, allowing someone to copy your paper, using cheat sheets, using technology to transmit or receive information with the intent to commit academic dishonesty, not grading correctly, plagiarizing, and self plagiarizing. Plagiarism is the theft of ideas, writings, or words of another person and passing this information off as one's own. Self plagiarism is completing an original paper for one class assignment, then turning in that same paper to another teacher for another class assignment without permission. Papers may be checked by the teacher using plagiarism detection software. Any student cheating will be subject to academic and/or disciplinary penalties. Consequences may include: reduction in grade on assignment, repeat assignment, no grade (zero) on assignment or others as deemed appropriate. Academic dishonesty will be reported to a school counselor and a parent will be notified.
*Time Required Outside of Class*  Because we are a career-focused class, and because of the erratic hours required in many radio, television, and film-related careers, all students are required to work outside of class time. Activities might include videotaping a sports event or other school function. Every effort will be made to accommodate students? work and study schedules. *Videos*  During the course of the year, a variety of movie and television clips and programs will be utilized.  A complete list is difficult to determine since many clips will be pulled from television productions that have yet to be created.  However, all clips and shows shown to the class will relate to instructional objectives.

Indirect Supervision through Real-World Practice – ChiefTV Students ‘Out On Assignment’ Because of the unique nature of this course, students in Broadcasting will occasionally work through indirect supervision.  This means that at times small groups or individually, students may work away from the teacher on campus (or off) while videotaping or gathering information for a story or project.  The teacher will be accessible via phone, cell phone, walkie talkie, or by students returning to the classroom but he may not be in direct sight of all students at all times.  The students will have passes signed by the teacher.  Great trust is given to these students and high maturity is crucial. By signing below, guardians indicate that they are aware of and accept this method of supervision when deemed necessary by the instructor and agree with real world educational experiences.
